My New Hobby: Not Doing Anything

As I’m writing it’s dawning on me,  it’s my last week of summer. I’m very excited to start a new school year and take on all the new challenges that it brings. I also know how stressful it can be for most students, no matter the year they’re in. It is for me too. I wanted to share some of the new “art forms” I’ve been practicing and getting into, hobbies if I may. Firstly, I’ve been obsessed with house plants. I’ve acquired quite a few at this point, and I’ve even wrote a blog post on them. My affinity at this point is quite obvious. I think learning about new things is one of the best ways to use my time. That’s why I’m wanting to start using some film. With the weather about to begin cooling off, I always take more photos. Adding some genuine film photos  is my next acquisition. I’m not really sure how to load film, use a film camera, or even have them developed and scanned. Nonetheless, I’m excited to start putting some of my time towards it. Hopefully there will be a youtube video or a blog post on film coming to you soon. We’ll see. Finally, my newest “art form” has spawn from reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck. It is a book I cannot get over. I think it literally speaks to every generation. I’m not going to talk so much about the contents of the book, but more how I’m implementing it and how it’s helped. I’m the type of person who isn’t hurt by major things, it’s the little things that cut deep. Not being invited to things, someone not saying hi, etc, etc. You guys get the point. These are all things that really get under my skin and hurt my feelings. Here’s the realization, stop giving a f*ck as Mark Manson would say. It’s obvious and easier said then done, but incorporating this saying in my everyday life has made SUCH a difference. When you step back and see if you, your family, and your friends are healthy and okay, you kind of realize not being invited to the party some of your friends went to is really, really okay. It’s kind of a long story short, but not giving a f*ck is one of my newest and favorite hobbies I’m getting into. You should too!

House Plants Sans Green Thumb

As a lot of you guys know, I just moved into a new house. I moved from a tiny apartment to a much bigger house in downtown Charleston, but this time I have 3 other roommates! With all this new found space, I decided to fill it with house plants and possibly pick up a new hobby. I read a lot about how taking care of anything is good for your mind. Not to mention, I'm always down to learn about our earth and take care of it. It doesn't really correlate, but I'm really trying to be more eco friendly and take the small steps in helping out our big, beautiful Earth! You guys should look into it as well, but back to the post about my house plants! I kind of feel like all of mine scream "I"M A MILLENNIAL!!!" Nonetheless, they're becoming a part of my home, and I love them all dearly. I took some small ones from my old apartment, and my roommates have added some of their own. If you know the names of some of them, drop a comment! I'm so new with plants, so any help or advice is much appreciated. With that being said, this isn't really a guide or anything like that. It's simply a new plant dad showing off his new babies. Click on any of the images for a little tidbit, and to see which ones I need help with!

4 Tips to Keep Your Skin in Check

I'll start off by saying the following tips are 100% my opinion, but I have tried them and I've gotten enough compliments on my skin to think they're a pretty solid bunch. I'm going to be focusing on taking care of your facial skin, but lots of these tips can be applied to your entire body. After all, skin is just skin.

1. Eat Avocados

I know you can only eat so much of something, and excess is just as bad, but I fully believe avocados have become a pivotal part in my skin regime. I try to eat at least 3 a week, no matter what. The natural fat is so amazing for your body, and it really leaves my skin with a glowy look. In my opinion, the effects of 3 avocados a week are not seen all at once. This is a tip that you'll have to work into your routine to really see the results.

2. Moisturizer with Sunscreen

I'm a firm believer in moisturizers with added sunscreen. If you're not using a moisturizer with UV protection, please go get some! It's the absolute best and your less-than wrinkled face will thank me a few years down the road. I use the Olay total effects , but it's not necessary to get this particular one. I also recommend using lotion everyday after the shower, but I won't go into too much detail since this post is "face" oriented.

3. Sunscreen All Day, Every Day

Cover your body in sunscreen after you moisturize. It will prevent cancer, wrinkles, and so much more. I know a lot of you guys will skip over this one, so with that in mind, do not skip sunscreen when you lay out.

4. Water Water Water

I left this tip for last because I can't think of a more obvious one. Never drink too much (Although, isn't that nearly impossible), but space out enough water throughout the day to keep you hydrated. Not only will your body and mind thank you, but your skin should too! Tons of water is the #1 way I've been successful in combating acne. I had bad acne growing up and tried the dermo plenty of times, but once I started running frequently and needing all the water, my acne started to clear up.

7 tips on Goodwill thrifting

I'm writing today about one of my favorite things to do, thrifting. In particular, I'm giving you guys my 7 tips for a successful trip to Goodwill. In Charleston, there isn't a lot of other thrift stores, so Goodwill is usually my choice. I always get questions about where I find my wide-leg pants and certain tops, and they're usually from thrifting! I've found such amazing things thrifting, so there is no plan to stop in the near future. Besides, every repurposed clothing item is another stride towards moving away from fast fashion. Anyways, let's get into the tips.

#1

Go when you have time and can stay there awhile.

So often, I'll go to Goodwill with people and they feel the need to do a quick look around and leave. This is for sure not the way to have a successful shopping trip. When I go, I actually go through nearly every section. It takes a little less than 2 hours, but often times, the result is so worth it!

Trust me, I don't go dressed up to thrift. This was the look.

Trust me, I don't go dressed up to thrift. This was the look.

#2

Go with friends who like to thrift

Sometimes it's important to know, some people just don't thrift. It's annoying, but it's true. For a lot of people I've talked to, they find the store to be over whelming and just way out of their ball park. Don't let that discourage you! Just because it's not meant for some of your friends, doesn't mean it's not for you!

#3

Don't go looking for a particular item, be open to everything

I've went to Goodwill before looking for something in particular, whether that be a cardigan or a band tee. Nonetheless, I never find exactly the item I want. Usually, I end up finding a bunch of things I didn't know I'd love! Being open to a lot of different items really inspires me when I incorporate the thrifted items into looks.

Found these Who What Wear beauties!

#4

Try to think of trends while you look

An example of this tip is gingham. Goodwill is a heaven for gingham lovers everywhere. I've found so many amazing pieces that helped me follow a trend (gingham, checked pants, blazers, band tees) for all less than $7 at Goodwill!

I also shop a lot of house ware! I'm obsessed with vintage glass ware. If I find something, I hand wash it and run it through the wash a few times before using.

I also think finding art for your house is a good idea! You can always repaint the frame or change the artwork.

#5

look in every section

This is no joke. I don't look in kids, but I check out everything else. I literally mean every section. Hit up the women's tops and pants and vice versa. Don't let the signs keep you from finding great pieces! The pants that I wear and everyone loves are from the women's section.

#6

keep diy in mind

This might be the most obvious tip, but everything has potential for new life! You can always cut up denim and make shorts or just a frayed hem. You can also cut pants and with a quick youtube video learn how to hem them. Long sleeve shirts can also easily be turned into cuffed short sleeved ones. Be creative!

#7

don't give up after one trip

This is my most important tip! So often, it's easy to get discouraged when you have to go through racks and racks of clothes. It's important not to give up! There will always be times when you find a lot of items and others where you walk away empty handed.

I was loving all the natural buttons I found on Tommy Bahama items.

I was loving all the natural buttons I found on Tommy Bahama items.

Now for a little try on. I ended up finding 8 items to try. This is a more successful amount in my opinion. I had two khaki shorts with pleats, a pair of navy shorts with pleats, a khaki blazer, black denim, and some linen pants. Oh, not to mention a Brooks Brothers black leather belt with gold details (A major score in my opinion)! They're all pictured below, but I ended up walking away with just the belt, linen pants, navy shorts, and the pair of the khaki shorts. Let me know if you guys would want more tips or a video on thrifting in the comments!

And there you have it, a successful Goodwill trip.

Tuesday Drinks

Hey guys! I'm sure we're all familiar with the o' so familiar feeling of "it's mid-week and I want to do something, but getting ready and leaving this house is a big no, not sorry." It's a feeling that is so easy to get used to and honestly follow through with on a daily basis. We all have Netflix, Youtube, or Hulu to watch so why not stay inside on during the week. You're spending less money too, right? Big no. Well, actually you are saving money, but the "it's mid-week and I want to do something, but getting ready and leaving this house is a big no, not sorry" feeling is detrimental to your mental health. So frequently I fall victim to being dormant in my apartment. There's always work to do, emails to write, a floor that needs a sweep. Everyday things really do keep you from going out during the week, but it's important not to let them! I'm not saying to go out every week night, possibly drinking too many vodka sodas, and who knows what else. But if you do every so often, it's friggin' okay. Breaking up the mundane of the norm work week can work wonders. My friend, Lily (Her insta) and I decided early on in the week to make some plans to do just that! We were able to shoot some of her new projects, some outfits of mine, and even have time to get a happy hour drink. A pretty bomb-ass Tuesday if you ask me. It's the random days that are so fun that inspire me. I've been feeling a little uninspired recently, too. There's not a lot of guy options in stores right now, and I'm honestly just not feeling anything I see. I feel like by simply going out and breaking up my everyday surroundings, I'm so much more inspired to create photo concepts, outfits, youtube videos, etc. While new clothes and finding new pieces isn't in the mix, it will be soon. Point blank, even if it's not new clothes you're dying to feel inspired by, you can still apply the concept and hopefully, see a shinier lining in the distance.

Summer '18 Bucket List

Today, I'm coming at you guys with a quick one. Not to be in a rush or anything, but it would be silly if I wrote a long blogpost for this particular one. To cut to the point, I made a summer bucket list that I want to check at least 7/10 things on by the time Summer comes to an end. That's why I'm being so short today - I have to start checking stuff off (JK, not in that big of a rush). I've posted it below so feel free to print it out and go along with me. I left some space at the bottom, so you can write your own ideas in too! If you do print it out and check things off, please let me know in the comments or on Instagram (@its_timmy)!

Happy start to your Summer! xx

Where To Go Next

I’m coming to you guys today asking a lot. I’m trying to figure out what my next step should be in regards to blogging and Instagram and all that jazz. With Summer quickly approaching, I’ll have a lot more free-time, so I’m trying to gear up towards that and get my ducks in a row. I have some ideas that need to be aired out so I’ll definitely need opinions. Please feel free to comment below or on my instapost. Also, there is some shopping at the end, don't worry.

Youtube

The biggest idea, and one I’ve already asked about is starting a Youtube channel. I love Youtube and watch vloggers daily. It’s honestly better than tv sometimes, in my opinion. I love watching real-life people and seeing their day and their favorite products. I also think it’s a way more transparent way for you guys to get to know me. I can only express myself so much behind an Instagram post, ya know? If I did start a channel, what types of videos would y’all want to see? I was thinking along the lines of fashion, lifestyle, and travel vlogs. More specifically, maybe like a what’s in my travel bag, styling a piece 3 different ways, hauls like I’ve done on Instastories. Honestly, I am down for any type of videos you guys want!

Blog

This one is short and simple. What types of blogposts do you guys love and which ones do you hate? I love posting content that I love, but I also want to make sure I’m catering to you guys because I truly couldn’t do this without the support of y’all. Like the videos, I’m willing to cover a lot of topics.

Giveaways/Depop Shop (Don’t Skip Over)

I’ll get straight to the point while I have your attention on this one. I really want to do some giveaways, but I’m not sure what or how I should. I’m in need of some brainstorming help. Depop wise, I’m wanting to sell my closet on the app! Here’s the catch, everything will be between $5-$10. I’d literally sell everything except some designer items (Acne jeans, Louis Vuitton agenda, Alexander Mcqueen wallet) for under $10. My thought behind this is that it’s pretty much like you guys get to pick and choose from my closet and the small fee covers shipping. I don’t think I’d make much profit off of the shop, but it’s a great way to get certain pieces I’ve thrifted or that’s out of season. If I feel like the prices are too high I will for sure lower them or vice versa. It just depends on how much it takes to break-even.

What’re your thoughts? Let me know below, and most importantly thanks for following along! I’m open to a lot of options and before I start making decisions on what to do and what not to do, I wanted to know what you all wanted.

"Unplugged"

I had a lot of free time this past week, which I feel like never happens but nonetheless, I wanted to do something really fun and tumblr-esque sans the angst. I felt like going to the beach with friends and bring a bottle or two of champagne would make the list of the most fun things I did this Spring. It was actually so fun despite the windy weather. No amount of sand could ruin our smiles or champagne.

I think it's so important to take time to do more that are considered more "unplugged." I should define my version of unplugged, though. I think being unplugged is more along the lines of being in nature and enjoying it to the best of your ability. A lot of people say to really have fun and be unplugged you need to lose the technology. I do think we could all spend a lot less time surfing IG and comparing our lives to others, but that for sure isn’t me saying I’m against having a camera or even a your phone in your hand at all times. I love having the ability to carry my phone with me everywhere. I’m the friend who is always taking photos and never deleting any of them. They’re memories to me, so I’m a strong fighter for the name of technology and being unplugged. I think both can work together perfectly. That’s another reason I love blogging. No matter where this blog goes, I think it’ll be so cool to look back years from now and see where I was and what I was thinking. I will cherish these photos forever and it's so nice to have this little moment I spent with my friends. Most importantly, getting out in nature is just pure therapy even if that means you have your iPhone camera ready for the perfect moment. That perfect moment for me was a 20 minute drive to the beach.

Tuesday's Thoughts

In hopes of really having a good connection with you all and being a bit transparent, I'm getting a bit personal today. (Don't worry, there is still a photo with linked items at the end <3). I'm hoping that if you're in the same place as I am you won't feel so alone and more importantly, you'll know it's okay not to be okay.

To cut to the point, I've recently hated every second I'm in school. It feels like it's such a waste of time and it's not where I'm supposed to be. Oh, and by the way, I'm an international business major and spanish minor. Have you ever felt like something just isn't worth finishing, much less spending major $$$ on? That's 100% me right now, but not graduating with a degree just isn't an option either. I've always done so well in school making all A's, and I can count the B's I've made on one hand. A big "however": the whole idea of school is just dreadful to me. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about trying a different option.

Now for the more positive side that I hope you guys really get something from! With all of the above in mind, I started looking for something else to do. I wasn't really against any option including staying in college and finishing with a degree in something else. I've thought about all the license where I'd be able to quickly take course and obtain, but none of those really seemed to fit me. The more I though about it, the more I realized Art, in particularly the fashion industry, is something I have always loved and genuinely want it to be a part of my life and career. So I started really diving into how to make that work. For those recently graduated or in college, you know how stressful it can be to realize your current major isn't for you or the simple fact that college is hard. Juggling a job, figuring life out, etc. is just not easy manage while you try to earn a degree in any given field. I'm over halfway done with my current degree too, so you can imagine how it feels to realize it's not what I want to do with my life. Like everyone says though, nothing in life is easy.

Today, I really put in work towards trying to figure out my college career. I've talked to my parents and a lot of close friends, and I even skipped class today to walk around with a friend and talk about how I'm feeling. I knew I needed to really focus on how to get this ball rolling. I applied to switch my major to Arts Management because I think it's a field I would thrive in, much more so than international business. Looking at the course load and the fact that I'm way behind everyone else my age now really does overwhelm me, but I know it'll work out. Yes, I might be in college more than 4 years now. Yes, that does suck, but no one ever really knows where they're going to be or what they're going to be doing so it's really okay. When I came into college, I thought I knew I would for sure graduate with an international business degree, and I'd travel all over the world. I thought that would be the best thing, but when I realized I wasn't happy, I knew I had to change. Change doesn't happen overnight night, though. I'm unsure with doubt and there will still be bad days, but I sure am happy as hell to be moving forward.

At the end of the day, the point I'm trying to get across is that it's okay if you're not in the happiest of places right now. You'll probably still be somewhat in the same place tomorrow, but that doesn't mean you can start working towards getting to a place where you want to be. Start trying to figure it out, and it's okay to still have your me time to deal with the stress. E.g. skipping class today for myself. I'm not saying everyone should go to college either. Everyone has a trials they'll have to deal with, and it won't always be easy. You can get to a happy place that you want to be though, wether that be your mental state, career, or for me, a college degree. So here's me today, with tons of homework and uncertainty, but also smiles and all with a new path to take. xx

My Favorite Products

A lot of you guys ask me all the time through direct message on Instagram what products I use, so I decided to do a quick little product lineup for those interested. Without any further ado, here's what I use daily. I also want to point out, ironically, I use all of these products in the bathroom, but I still managed to take some photos that sufficed my personal aesthetic. Maybe I just need to add some grain, right?

IMG_0278.jpg

Le Labo takes a lot of the cake in this lineup! I'm obsessed with how the shampoo and conditioner make my hair smell. I have pretty oily hair, especially since I always have gel in my hair, so these work great and always leave my scalp and hair feeling clean. However, hair nourishment wise, I don't necessarily think if you have super dry hair these are the ones for you. They could possibly dry your hair out.

Next, we have my one true love. A lot of people ask me how I keep my skin clear, and I always recommend the Glossier Milk Jelly Cleanser. I cannot swear by anything more. As soon as I started using it, I immediately started noticing a difference in my skin. Not only did I have less pimples, but I started to see a more even complexion. It's also works as a makeup remover. I have 4 unopened cleansers in my cabinet if it's any indicator how much I love the product. I come prepared, what can I say?

Then we have moisturizer. I'm sure all of you have your own, but I still recommend both. I use the Aveeno a ton in the summer because it has built in sunscreen. Something about using it always leaves me with such a glow in the summer while still tanning my face (in the slightest bit. I know everyone wants their face to not be as tan). The Aveeno is my go-to when I get ready in the morning, but if I shower at night, I use the .Grey product. It feels super light, but super moisturizing at the same time. For those of you who suffer from razor burn too, I use a ton of moisturizer after I shave and just leave it on the area where I shaved. This isn't a foolproof method, but it really helps me cut down from redness.

IMG_0285.jpg

You guys caught me in a lie, I don't use this one everyday, but it is a part of the weekend routine or anytime I'm going to something where I'm wanting to feel extra "on." It's this Le Labo Bronzer. You just put a dime size amount in your hand with your moisturizer and apply. It totally gives the best natural tan for your face. It's great for any of those times in the Winter where you're taking photos, and you don't want to look pale as a ghost.

IMG_0284.jpg

What hair gel I use is probably the most asked question I get. I stand by my American Crew Forming Cream. I've used it since high school, and now I rarely try anything else. I put a quarter size amount in my hand and warm it up. Then, with partially wet shower hair, I rub it in throughout the top. Boom bada bing, that's it. I spend less than 10 seconds on my hair thanks to this little product.

This is just a personal preference, but I always wear some type of parfum. My current favorites are Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and Le Labo Another 13. I use Another 13 for the day as a more casual scent. It's actually amazing and it's my most complimented scent. For night and event type of scenarios, I wear the Tobacco Vanille. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I genuinely love it so much.

IMG_0289.jpg

These are not essentials but little extras that make the day fun. I live in Charleston, SC, and when it's Summer, I am the definition of a hot mess. The Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray is a life saver. Not only for your appearance, but for the refreshing feeling of cooling off after you've been outside in a "sauna."

The final product is my L'occitane Lavender lotion. It smells divine (like lavender obviously) and is so nourishing if your hands or elbows are dry. It is oil based so a lot goes a long way.

2018 Valentine's Day Gift Guide

It's finally February and that means Valentine's Day. Whether you're shopping for yourself, a friend, and/or a lover, I compiled a list of some of my favorite items to eclipse any stress you might be feeling. With options for him and her depending on your budget!

Women's $100+

The first one on the Women's $100+ list is an acne sweater. It'd be a great gift simply because a nice sweater is always in style and the quality is superb. Everything I've ever bought from Acne is still in good condition and looks brand new. Next, I figured the Jonathan Adler pillow was so quirky and can make any space look instantly cooler. Also, it's red so automatically in the running for the best Valentine's Day gift. Then I chose a pair of Le Specs. I'm obsessed with all of the micro sunnies taking storm. If your special someone is into fashion and trends, these really are the perfect gift in my opinion. Now for the Cult Gaia pièce de résistance! This bag is the bag for summer. It'll look perfect in any sundress situation and could even be used as a beach bag for the essentials. Finally, a piece from Tiffany & Co. No explination needed for this one, who doesn't love quality jewlry that'll last forever. The tiffany blue box is sure to make anyone smile.

Men's $100+

Up first on the Men's $100+ list is a decanter and glass set from Williams Sonoma. I have 2 of the glasses, and they are absolutely amazing. Next, I thought an Airbnb would be a great surprise. I always love traveling and one of my favorite parts is the stay. Finding a cool Airbnb and booking dates is perfect for the person who loves to travel. After that, we have shoes! A pair of Gucci loafers is perfect for any occasion and can dress up any outfit. Birkenstocks are also great for summer, and they're a part of my go-to beach attire. Finally, my favorite scent - The Noir 29. Le Labo does stunning fragrances and their aesthetic is just as superb.

 Women's <$100

Now for the less than $100 gifts. I tried to be practical with these because I love receiving gifts that I know I can easily use on a daily basis. A Diptyque Feuille de Lavande candle. I have this candle and I always keep one in my apartment. The smell is to die for.  Then a Blue Bottle Coffee Dripper is great for any of your coffee lovers. If it's not apparent, I love shoes. These Superga Espadrille Platforms are only $34.99 at TJ Maxx. Not only is this a great gift, but it's an even better deal. I forgot to mention that the less than $100 lists are pretty gender neutral. You could gift any guy the above gifts, except the shoes (unless your guy has tiny feet, of course). Another gift idea is a Jonathan Adler mug! The lips are so cute and sassy. Finally, a piece from HRH Collection. If you guys don't know Alex, the creator of the line, you should. Her pieces range from bag chains, to quality crystal jewelry. Also, shout out to her youtube channel. Amazing.

Men's <$100

As with the other under $100 list, these items are pretty gender neutral other than the underwear and selvedge denim. First on the list is a passport cover. This one would go great with the Airbnb credit to make for the best gift for your traveler. Then, we have a candle from Le Labo. Santal 26 is such a great scent, and I even have it in the scent sample size! No explanation needed, but new underwear are always nice. A coffee carafe is our next object of topic. Coffee related items are always crowd-pleasers in my experience. The last item of the post, is a pair of selvedge denim. They're quality and having a nice pair of denim is always a good and safe call.

Saturdays CHS

The weather in Charleston this weekend has been SO amazing. So amazing, I documented my morning via daily vlog style but in a blog post - genius right (joke)? My best friend, Harlee, was off work for the day, and we really wanted to get out and about in the warm weather. We pretty much have a Subconscious routine of coffee then shopping. We walked away from the day empty handed, other than a pair of trousers and a headache from our coffee buzz.

My absolute favorite coffee shop is Black Tap Coffee by far. If you're in Charleston, you must stop and visit and get an iced almond milk lavender syrup latte. Yes, I know that's about as extra as it comes but Black Tap is my favorite for a reason. They also have great, light, refreshing tea (Harlee's favorite). Coffee is always a go-to thing to do when I plan on having a fun or busy day. PSA I secretly like the weird buzzy feeling drinking coffee gives. Sue me!

Below: The sweetest dog was laying in the sun and living the life of a god. He was the hit of the coffee shop, honestly.

Next, THE SHOPPING

If you've ever been on King St in Charleston, SC, you know there are shops but not a ton of options for men that fit my tastes. We started out with Club Monaco, but didnt find a ton of anything. This is my least favorite time to shop because selection is so sparse. It's the time of year where no store wants to stock too much of anything because Spring and warm weather is right around the corner. Anthropolgie was the next stop. No purchases were made but there was this affordable and quality cross-body bag almost made the cut for Harlee. The bag is so cute and perfect for Spring and is somewhat trendy with the metal handles. Next, we hit up the H&M only to find the same "problem" of low stock. Finally, was a quick stop in Urban Outfitters where I found these track pants. I plan on wearing them with 2 or 3 buttons undone to give some of my Saint Laurent Boot cleavage. That was all the shopping we did, but if you know me, you know we took photos a long the way.

christmas (on a budget)

christmas (on a budget)

Getting festive on a budgetI live in an apartment with two other roommates and we all wanted to decorate some for the holidays, but we also all had the unanimous decision we didn't want to spend a ton on decorating. For the most part, I think a lot of people are like that, since lots of us are in a stage of life where we’re constantly moving and have yet to find our “forever” spot, which leads me to this post!

The next DIY involves gold or silver spray paint depending on your personal preference. I think this one is sooo easy and makes any area a bit more festive. Either go outside and find pinecones or go to Michael’s Craft Store and grab a pack of them and simply: spray paint them, let them dry, and fill a clear vase with them. I have also seen people do the same with acorns, which is just as cute. I can only take so much credit for this idea because when I was black Friday shopping, I saw anthropologie do something similar.

Finally, and almost most importantly, why not buy Christmas decorations that can be used for more than just Christmas? I’ve linked a lot below that I think can double as house decorations, but allow you to add something to them and become Christmas decor. Take for instance a glass or gold vase; I’ve used both and planted a mini pine in the glass and filled the gold with clippings and added string lights. I had both when I moved into my apartment, but they were easily turned into cute decor for the holidays. Candles are also a must. Regardless of the scent, put them in a vase to cause really pretty ambient lighting or just by themselves and it automatically adds a homier and festive vibe to your room. String lights are also a good example of a versatile item. I’m in college and had a lot left over from when I lived in the dorm. I pulled them out for Christmas and covered every inch of ANY space I could.

First of all I am going to talk about some easy DIYS that I’ve seen and do quite often! A big part of christmas is having some type of real/artificial pine tree. However, neither was in the budget this year. One alternative I did is to go outside and walk to the nearest park or pretty tree and cut some clippings. I usually do magnolias because I’ve found the clippings stay dark green for a few weeks. You can also add some bring lights that you would hang on the wall. I say those in particular (& have linked them below) because they are usually pretty light weight and won’t damage anything they're put on.

All around, you might not end up in Architectural Digest, but you can easily decorate your space in a festive way that’ll make the holidays still feel special and inspiring. Below, I've attached some similar items to what I have! Just click the photos to view the item. Happy Holidays!
